2017.  20172017.  Have you remembered to make that change these last couple of weeks when you’ve written the year on something?  Keeping things current is important!  If your watch runs slow, you’ll be late.  If your bills are left unpaid, you may receive unpleasant phone calls.  If you don’t keep up with your vehicle’s maintenance, you might be on foot.  Ephesians 5:16 says it this way: “Redeeming the time….”  That simply means to make the most of the time God gives us.  We often give detailed attention to our company, but we neglect our communion with God.  We service our car, but are slack in our consecration. We watch our clocks, but are slow in confessing our sins.  In other words, we often meticulously attend the secular, yet we neglect the spiritual.  As you settle into this new year, why not commit yourself to keeping things current with God?  Spend time with Him every day.  Surrender to His guidance for every step.  Confess and forsake that sin immediately.  Over the next few days, you may still end up writing 2016 on something, but you’ll be current where it matters most!
