King Jehoshaphat had led his nation in a return to God, spiritual reform, and revival.  He sought the Lord and was blessed by Him.  But now he faced a problem.  A huge problem.  The combined armies of Moab, Ammon, and others were forming to do battle with the people of Judah.  You can find the story in 2 Chronicles 20.  Take some time right now to read it.  The king, in his fear, went to the right place – God.  He admitted their inability to deal with the foe.  He acknowledged that they really had no clue as to what to do (see verse 12).  But I will say that he certainly knew where to go and from Whom to seek help!   In fact, Jehoshaphat had such confidence in his God that he implemented an incredibly strange (some would say foolish) battle plan.  You see it in verses 20-22.  He sent the choir to lead the charge.  Not cavalry, not foot soldiers, not elite forces, but singers.  No chariots, swords, lances, or even slings.  Just musical notes.  Yet a marvelous thing happened!  Verse 22 says, “And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments” against their enemies.  An astounding and complete victory!  And it all began with singing praise to the Lord.  Perhaps in this new year, Moab and Ammon are already knocking at your door, and you have no idea what to do or how to get through.  You know the Lord and His power, but are you praising Him, even in face of the overwhelming odds against you?  Why not send in the singers?  Pull your army, your strength, your wisdom back, and take some time to turn your eyes to your Lord and simply praise Him for Who He is and all He’s done for you.  The battle is not yours anyway.  It’s God’s.  Praise Him, and watch what He’ll do!
