It was like a stab in the back.  A sucker punch.  Or a blindside hit.  You expect it from the liberal media and activists, but from someone who claims to preach the same Book I do?  Who claims to be a Baptist like I am?  You see, true Biblical Christianity is taking a lot of hits today from those who oppose the things we stand for.  They are vocal, loud, and would love nothing more than to see us slink off into ineffective and dormant oblivion.  But that’s ok – I expect that.  Those who don’t know the Lord and haven’t been changed by His grace, according to Scripture, really have no true spiritual discernment.  But what I can’t accept or understand is what this pastor in Sacramento said a few days ago.  I first saw it on the national evening news, and then checked it out on some internet sources.  This guy was first preaching and later commenting on last weekend’s mass shootings in Orlando.  He essentially said that it was good that those who were in that club were dead, and that Orlando was safer because of it.  He went on to say that homosexuals cross a line and could not be saved, even if they somehow later wanted to be.  And that’s just a couple of the things he spouted.  I could fill up the page with more, but I don’t think I could stand it.  Or stomach it.  Yes, homosexuality is wrong, and it’s clearly taught in Scripture to be unnatural.  Always has been and always will be.  Those who defend the homosexual lifestyle find themselves in contradiction with God’s Word.  But so does the Sacramento pastor and his comments on the Orlando shooting.  You see, Sacramento Pastor, the Lord says in Ezekiel 33:11, “Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die…?”  The Bible also says concerning some of the believers in the church at Corinth who had been involved in homosexuality, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).  Yes, Sacramento Pastor, they got saved.  I grieve over his twisting of the Scriptures and for the damage he has done to the cause of Christ and the gospel.  Reader friend, would you pray that I would always stand for God’s truth unashamedly yet always speak God’s truth in love?  In fact, let’s pray we all do so.  That’s what the world needs to see and hear!
