62,502,904.  Let that number sink in for a second.  Let it sink deep.  That’s the reported number of preborn children’s lives taken by abortion in our country since the Roe v. Wade decision was handed down by the Supreme Court 48 years ago today.  62,502,904.  I really don’t know what else to say.  All those precious, “fearfully and wonderfully made” babies (Psalm 139:14) who were never given a chance to live beyond their mother’s womb.  Those little ones who have fallen victim to the Biblically-declared abomination of “hands that shed innocent blood” (Proverbs 6:16-17).  62,502,904.  And climbing.  So what do we do?  I think we must start by praying for God’s mercy on our nation and for a change in heart for those in the newly elected administration who seem to be bent on promoting this atrocity.  Then we must make our voice heard for life, because the preborn cannot speak for themselves (Proverbs 31:8).  We must proclaim the blessing that children truly are a “heritage of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3-5).  We must faithfully share the gospel, because that is what can powerfully transform a person and a nation (2 Corinthians 5:17).  We must do all this because of and in order to manifest the love of God (Ephesians 4:15).  And remember, if you or someone you know has an abortion in their past, speak to them of God’s grace and forgiveness; encourage them to seek Him for the change they need, because our Savior is the one who can forgive, cleanse, and transform.  Then, if you ever feel like giving up the fight, thinking it’s not worth it, just remember this: 62,502,904.
