Access.  It can be defined as “permission, liberty, or ability to enter, approach, or pass to and from a place or to approach or communicate with a person or thing” (Miriam-Webster Dictionary).  Then there are the different kinds of access.  No access.  Limited access.  Denied access.  Scheduled access.  Credentialed access.  Free access.  And maybe a few more you can think of.  “Access” is the word that came to my mind this morning as I prepared to type this note.  That was when I received a text from someone sharing an urgent request that needed immediate prayer, and I replied that I would pause and pray in that moment.  In other words, I would approach the Heavenly Father and seek his intervention for the need.  In that moment, I needed access to God to pray for my friend.  And the door was open.  In fact, the door was more than open; it had a “Please Come In” sign hanging beside it.  There was no line to wait in.  There was no little image of a clock face saying “Gone out.  Will return at such-and-such a time.”  No one asked whether or not I had an appointment.  I could step right in, step right up, and lift up the need to the Heavenly Father.  All those who know Christ can do the same!  Because of what He has done, we have this standing invitation: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).  In other words, you have “permission, liberty, or ability to enter, approach, or pass to and from a place or to approach or communicate with” the God of the universe.  Or I guess you could say, “Access granted.”
