“I feel like it’s just me and God.”  That’s a statement I’ve heard on several occasions.  Have you ever felt like that?  I think at some point it happens to all of us, usually in moments of trial, change, depression, or loneliness.  This past Wednesday night we began a study in Psalm 73, and I noticed that the writer, Asaph, may have felt that way when he cried out in verse 25, “Whom have I in heaven but Thee?”  Often that feeling overlooks the reality of family and friends who are still there, but what if that statement were to be true?  What if it truly were just God and you?  Well, you would be in good company!  You’d be there with David in front of Goliath.  With Elijah on Mount Carmel.  With Daniel in the lion’s den.  With Joseph in prison.  With Esther before her king.  With Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace.  With the disciples in the storm-tossed boat.  With Paul and Silas in jail at Philippi.  With John on the Isle of Patmos.  All that these really had was God, and He turned out to be enough.  So be sure to give thanks for the friends and family you have that stand with you in the hard times, but if it ever does turn out to be just you and God, you still have all you need.  Asaph goes on to say that “My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.”  You have God.  You’re good to go.
