I try not to worry, but sometimes I can’t help it.  As I look at our country, I’m astounded by the advancement of the moral decay, the humanistic philosophy, and the overall drift from Biblical values.  I mentioned this to Tina a couple of nights ago and expressed the worry that I try to avoid.  If the Lord doesn’t return, what will my children face as they rear my grandchildren?  And what will my grandchildren confront as they move into adulthood?  Honestly?  It scares me.  But then yesterday I began what I do just about every year in the days leading up to Thanksgiving: I read and meditate on Psalm 100.  The answer to my worry was there.  Right there in the last phrase of the last verse.  “For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.”  The word “truth” simply refers to the absolute reliability of God.  It’s often translated “faithfulness.”  And once each “steady” and “stability.”  Isn’t that exactly what God and His word are: steady, stable, and faithful?  Now here’s the best part – “to all generations”!  So while I don’t know what my grandchildren and beyond may have to face, I do know what will be available to them.  Or better yet, Who will be available to them – the unchanging, faithful God along with His absolutely reliable Word.  To all generations of Bowkers.  And I’m thankful for that!
