It’s been my point of meditation this week.  I’ve read other things, but I keep coming back to this verse in Proverbs 4:26.  “Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.”  Ponder the path of thy feet.  That word “ponder” has the idea of turning something over in your mind, weighing the circumstances and possibilities.  Not a complicated concept at all, but how often we neglect it!  All it’s saying is that before we step out in a certain direction, stop for a time and take a good look at that direction.  Look to see where we are and where that choice of direction will lead us.  That first step may seem okay, innocent, or maybe even enjoyable; but what about the final destination of that choice?  God has set a course of life for us.  A life to please Him, to serve Him, to glorify Him.  We must choose the “path” that keeps us on course.  Just being a little off course now, if not corrected, will lead to being way, way off course down the road.  So how do we choose the right path?  Simple; we do what the writer of Psalm 119:59 says he did: “I thought on my ways and turned my feet unto Thy testimonies.”  As we look at the path before us, we go to God’s word for direction.  And we choose the Biblical path, no matter how it looks.  Honestly, at times the first few miles of that path may seem a little rocky, but the final destination, well, I can guarantee you that it’s where you want to be.  God’s direction is always the right direction, the best direction, and really the only direction we should consider.  So do a little pondering today.  Where are you headed?  Are you on course for God?
