Simplicity.  We could use a little more of it in this complicated world.  I sat at the Capitol in Atlanta on Tuesday listening to a House subcommittee meeting about some important legislation, and the “legalese” often spoken was complicated.  On Wednesday, I sat with a web site designer and saw a page of codes and who knows what all else that he warned me not to mess with.  Pretty complicated stuff to me.  Busy schedules with too many places to be can complicate life.  Unexpected situations that arise can complicate things in a great way.  Illness, financial setbacks, relationship problems, job decisions, child rearing, schoolwork, and a host of other things can keep life complicated, or as the thesaurus tells us, complex, difficult, intricate, knotty, thorny, dense, convoluted, and problematical.  Know what I mean?  Over the last couple of days as I thought about how complicated life can get, my mind went back to what we studied in 1 Corinthians 15 this past Sunday night here at Berean.  The simple gospel.  Christ died for our sins.  He was buried in the tomb.  He rose again the third day.  He was seen by many.  To put it simply, I’m glad being saved is simple.  The simple childlike faith in a Savior who did all the work.  No complicated list of goals to attain.  No complicated assignments to complete.  No complicated set of rules to adhere to.  Just simple faith in a simple message, and a simple promise that says “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  As we head into this next week and focus in a specific way on the death and resurrection of Christ, why not express simple gratitude for what Jesus did for you and share that simple message with someone who needs it?  It’s that simple.
