Mother’s Day is this weekend, and I have a problem.  No, I have the cards bought and the gifts figured out.  Meals taken care of?  Yes; well, at least as best I can right now.  Mother’s Day message for Sunday morning?  Done.  And printed.  All is ready to go, except for one thing: this note.  “Mothers” is the logical focus for this edition of “The Pastor’s Heart,” but here’s my problem.  How can I describe the blessing of a godly mother in a short post?  How do I explain the strong support a mother’s prayer gives?  How do I explain a mother’s patience?  And what about her tireless efforts to make where we live a home and not just a house?  How in the world can a mother sleep through the most violent thunderstorm, yet wake up in full alert status when one of her children softly whimpers or coughs?  How can I explain her resourcefulness in stretching a dollar to meet a need, preparing a meal to feed and satisfy hungry teenagers, or finding the time to “get it all done”?  How can I describe the impact that her selflessness makes as she always seems to put the needs of others before her own?  Help me out if you can.  Please.  And if you can answer all that, then tell me this.  How can I explain a mother’s love?  It’s no wonder that Proverbs 31:10 speaks of that godly woman and says that “…her price is far above rubies”!  Happy Mother’s Day!
