She’s here!  And she’s beautiful!  Little Emery Dallas Bowker, our second grandchild and first granddaughter, made her entrance into the world at 10:26 last Monday morning.  Praise the Lord, mom and baby (and dad) are doing fine.  As Tina and I looked through the hospital nursery window, we only had eyes for little Emery.  Sure, there were other babies in there, but not one was like our Emery.  Not one was as cute, not one was as perfect, not one was as captivating.  Then, a little while later when we actually held her, well…. all that we thought when we first saw her was confirmed: no other granddaughter compares with her, and I have the photos to prove it.  Lots of them.  I’m prejudiced you say?  No doubt, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  Now when it comes to comparing grandchildren, the debate could rage on and on.  That’s what grandparents do, right?  The way that we grandparents brag on our grandchildren crossed my mind as I looked at one of the thoughts for this Sunday evening’s message.  As Moses and Israel sang praise to the Lord for the Red Sea deliverance, they said, “Who is like unto Thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like Thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”  That led me to the words of Psalm 89:6-8 that state, “For who in the heaven can be compared unto the Lord?  Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the Lord?  God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about Him.  O Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto Thee? Or to Thy faithfulness round about Thee?”  In other words, there is no one who can compare to the God of Scripture, our God and Heavenly Father.  And that debate is closed.  Some may try, but it’s useless.  We grandparents may agree to disagree about who has the cutest grandbabies; however, when it comes to our Lord, I think we’d all wholeheartedly agree that He is infinitely beyond comparison with anyone or anything else.  Period.  Why don’t we just go ahead and praise Him for that today?  Then, let’s commit to please only Him, because He’s all that matters.  Just like Tina and I felt as we first saw the only baby in that nursery that mattered to us!  Welcome, little Emery!  Granddaddy and Grandmama love you!
