She felt forsaken.  Alone.  Ashamed.  You can read her story in 1 Samuel 1.  She bore the cultural stigma of being childless.  Her husband assured her of his love and care, but it didn’t help.  You see, there was the problem of his other wife.  She had borne him children, something Hannah couldn’t do.  And on top of it all, this “other woman” had it in for her, reminding her of her barrenness and doing all she could to put Hannah down.  She was broken and filled with, as the Bible says, a “bitterness of soul.”  When she cried out in brokenness to the Lord, she was accused of being drunk.  No one seemed to understand, not even her husband.  And the other wife didn’t even bother to care, much less understand.  But Hannah was not deterred from seeking the Lord and pouring out her soul before Him.  Then the breakthrough moment came.  1 Samuel 1:19 says something tremendous: “and the Lord remembered her.”  God heard her cry, answered her prayer, and gave Hannah a son named Samuel.  God remembered Hannah.  A wonderful Mother’s Day story, for sure.  But the truth here isn’t just for ladies.  It’s for the broken, the heartsick, the fallen, the shamed, the forgotten, anyone who needs a touch from God.  No matter what may be pressuring you from the outside or ripping you apart on the inside, go to God.  Psalm 136:23 says it in another way.  “Who remembered us in our low estate; for His mercy endureth forever.”  God hasn’t forgotten you.  He remembers.  And he forgives, strengthens, heals, and restores.  God turned Hannah’s bitterness of soul into, as she herself put it, “My heart rejoiceth in the Lord.”  He can do the same for you.
