Well, another Vacation Bible School is in the books.  The scenery is disassembled, the posters are down, the classrooms are back to normal arrangements, and our normal service schedule resumes this Sunday.  It’s over.  But is it?  Is it really over?  I don’t think so.  You see, this past Sunday through Thursday our VBS volunteers invested their time and energy to love, teach, help, and care for the young people that attended.  They served snacks; they settled arguments; they helped create little works of art; they led singing and did magic tricks; they never allowed the chaos to go beyond controlled chaos; they taught God’s word and listened to memory verses; they cleaned, straightened, and got ready for the next night.  Simply put, they served.  And what the Lord did through them this week isn’t over, because it was a work with eternal value.  Stories of God’s faithfulness were shared with young hearts, gospel seed was sown and watered, and expressions of God’s love were seen in every activity.  So that’s why this year’s VBS isn’t really over.  I praise the Lord for those who served, invited, and prayed for this week.  And I pray that what was done this week makes a difference in those young lives for God’s eternal glory!  As our Lord said, “Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God.”
