“Things are crazy right now.”  Heard that lately?  Maybe you’ve even said it; I know I have.  I look around and see fear because of what’s happening.  I see fretting because we can’t do much about it.  I see frustration because it keeps happening over and over.  I see these things around me, and sometimes I even see some of these in the mirror.  You know, sometimes I’ll pick out something to wear and Tina will tell me, “That just doesn’t look good on you.”  And I try to listen (when it’s one of my favorite shirts, it’s hard though!).  Well, I’ve come to the conclusion that fear, fretting, and frustration just do not look good on the child of God.  Wouldn’t you agree?  So why not pay attention to Psalm 33:1?  “Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.”  Or how about Psalm 147:1?  “Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.”  Do you see the key word “comely”?  That means befitting or becoming.  Praise – that’s what looks good on us!  Praise because God’s perfect love casts out fear.  Praise because it defeats fretting by acknowledging that God is sovereign and can do something about what’s going on.  Praise that eliminates frustration because my trust and my joy are in my God and not in any circumstance or outcome.  So before leaving the house each morning, check the mirror.  Praise looks good on you!
