It was written almost 60 years ago, but it sure was a blessing yesterday. Our Men of the Word Bible study has been going through the book The Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer. It’s been a great study. But it’s been quite humbling as well as we have considered the indescribable greatness of our God. A statement in yesterday’s chapter really stuck with me, probably because of the continuing moral decline and national distancing from God and His word that we see in our country. Here and there glimmers of hope can be seen, but the overall direction is still disturbing. Honestly, right now I don’t know which way it’s going to go. Get worse? Probably. Turn around? Possibly, by God’s grace. Completely collapse? I pray not. Wholesale national repentance and revival? I pray so and work to see it happen. Yet in this time of uncertainty, there’s something we can all be sure of. Absolutely sure. Mr. Tozer said it this way: “In the moral conflict now raging around us whoever is on God’s side is on the winning side and cannot lose; whoever is on the other side is on the losing side and cannot win.” Simply put and powerfully assuring, isn’t it? In fact, the Apostle Paul put it like this: “Nay in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us,” and “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Romans 8:37, Philippians 2:10-11). As a child of God, you can watch the news and know you are on the winning side. You can monitor the campaign polls and soon-to-come election results and know, no matter what, you are on the winning side. You can face dark days of health problems, financial strain, relationship battles, and any other trial with the assurance that, by God’s grace, you are on the winning side. So, walk on in faith, work on with joy, pray on with confidence, and lean on our Lord with all your heart!
