If you’ve been involved in missions emphasis for any length of time, you’ve probably heard of the 10/40 Window.  This is an area of the world, mostly in the eastern hemisphere, between 10 and 40 degrees north of the equator, and it is believed to contain the largest concentration of unreached people in the world. Truly, it is a staggering need and is one that our church has a part in reaching.  But have you ever heard of the 4/14 Window?  I hadn’t heard the term until my wife referred me to an article on it this week.  What is that, you ask?  It simply refers to the critical time between ages 4 and 14 when the great majority of people make their decision to receive Christ.  Studies I’ve looked at this week put the percentage as low as 64% up to as high as 80+%.  Regardless of where the numbers actually fall, more people are saved in that 10-year period than all the others combined.  Maybe that’s why Jesus said, “Suffer the little children to come unto Me.”  Maybe that’s why we see one of the most touching images in Scripture when Jesus “took them up in His arms, and put His hands on them, and blessed them” (Mark 10:16).  Maybe that’s why our VBS this week took on a greater meaning to me.  Maybe that’s why today’s Supreme Court decision on marriage becomes a mandate to reach children for Jesus now.  Yes, reaching and working with children can be hard work.  It can frazzle your nerves and try your patience.  But it can also melt your heart and rejoice your soul!  What will you do about that important 4/14 Window?  Why do I ask that?  Simply because “for of such is the kingdom of God.”
