Usually it just says “Wash Me.”  But this one was different.  I’m always seeing things written on the back of the trailers on the interstate, and I don’t usually pay much attention.  The one that caught my eye the other evening may have been written as a joke, or maybe the writer was serious; I have no way of knowing.  Whatever the reason, it made me think.  Three simple words were there: “God is dead.”  The response is just as simple as the statement: “No He’s not.”  And there’s overwhelming evidence to that fact.  The evidence of Scripture, creation, personal experience, and even logic all point to the contrary of what was written on the back of that trailer.  Don’t you agree?  Absolutely!  However, to dive into apologetics and discuss the existence of God is not the point of today’s topic.  No, what spoke to me is this.  You and I don’t believe God is dead.  Not at all.  No how, no way.  Then why do we sometimes act like it?  Why do we fret and worry; is God dead?  Why do we give up when life gets tough; is God dead?  Why do we sin as if no one is watching; is God dead?  Why do we turn our backs to that which we know is true; is God dead?  Why do we allow other things in our lives to take us away from God’s people and God’s house; is God dead?  And why in the world do we suddenly start living for ourselves; is God dead?  Yes, you and I would agree that God is most definitely and eternally alive.  Let’s just make sure we live like it and show the world that it’s true!
