Fear or faith? It’s a choice, you know. There are many places in Scripture where you can see it. Phrases like “I will not fear,” “I will not be afraid,” and others are there to see. And in each one of those passages, there is also found a statement of trust in God. I like the way Isaiah puts it: “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation” (Isaiah 12:2). Here I can clearly see Isaiah’s choice – to trust and not be afraid. But he also gives me three reasons to trust. My God is a God of deliverance, so I will trust Him. My God is a God of unlimited strength, so I will trust Him. My God is a God worthy of praise, not blame, so I will trust Him. And I will not be afraid. On the other side of the coin, if I don’t trust Him, it’s a given that fear will be there. So how will you choose today? Fear or faith? It’s up to you.
