“Look at that sunset!”  Tina pointed it out to me last night, and what a pretty sight it was!  The Lord paints absolute beauty when it comes to sunrises and sunsets, doesn’t He?  But His divine artistry is more than just something to admire; there’s a lesson there as well.  Listen to the Psalmist in Psalm 113:1-3. “Praise ye the Lord.  Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.  Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.  From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.”  There you have it: the lesson of sunrise and sunset.  They are a reminder to lift our eyes to our God and praise Him.  I know a lot can happen between sunrise and sunset, both good and bad.  A good day can suddenly swirl into a bad one.  A day just coasting along can crash into catastrophic change.  And, yes, a bad day can get better as well.  I guess what I’m saying is that a lot can happen, and a lot can change between sunrise and sunset.  Or between sunset and sunrise, for that matter.  However, that doesn’t change anything about who God is, the reach of His power, the sufficiency of His grace, or the magnitude of His mercy.  He is worthy to be praised.  Every day, all day.  From one end of the earth to the other.  As we focus on Him and praise Him no matter what, it lifts us into His presence and draws us closer to Him, and there we can give thanks for the blessings and find strength and peace for the burdens.  So, the next time you admire the beauty of a sunrise or sunset, remember that there is a lesson there as well.  Praise Him!
