It’s funny what you remember from your childhood.  Certain things are crystal clear, while other memories fade in and out.  Recently, a verse I read brought back one of those memories for me and along with it a challenging thought.  It’s one that concerns my parents and the cards they would give each other on birthdays, Christmas, etc.  They were often, if not always, signed with a Scripture reference, Philippians 1:3.  The verse reads, “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.”  The thought reminded me of something a friend once said to me.  He’d been contemplating a challenge he’d heard that asked a pointed question: “Who would mention you in a testimony this week?”  In other words, whose life have you impacted for God this week so that he or she would say, “I thank God for you”?  Whether you realize it or not, you influence, in one way or another, most of the people around you.  Obviously you immediately think of your family and close friends, but I believe it goes far beyond that.  What about other church members?  Your coworkers?  Your classmates?  The waitress at the restaurant?  The one who checked you out at the grocery store?  The casual contact who may not even know your name or ever see you again, but would say, “I thank God for you”?  As you go through your day today, look around and ask the Lord to help you make a difference in someone’s life for His glory.  “I thank my God for you.”  Paul said it about the believers at Philippi.  Who would say it about you?
