You just never know.  And because you never know, you should never give up.  King Solomon put it this way in Ecclesiastes 11:6: “In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.”  When it comes to living for God, keep sowing.  When it comes to giving the gospel, keep sowing.  When it comes to showing grace, keep sowing.  When it comes to standing for truth, keep sowing.  When it comes to loving, keep sowing.  I guess you could say that when it comes to anything for God, God’s word, and God’s glory, keep sowing.  Morning and evening.  Day after day.  Will you ever be tempted to give up?  Sure.  Will you ever feel as if you’ve failed?  Absolutely.  Will you ever think it’s pointless?  More than likely.  Will you ever get sidetracked for a bit?  Yep.  Will you ever feel outnumbered and overwhelmed?  Count on it.  But should you ever quit?  I think you know the answer.  Consider the words of our sixth president, John Quincy Adams.  As a member of Congress after his presidency, he passionately pursued a cause dear to his heart, but to no avail.  When asked why he continued to battle, he simply replied, “Duty is ours; results are God’s.”  So today remember, consistency counts.  Resolve rewards.  Persistence prevails.  Faithfulness bears fruit.  And be sure that, as you follow Solomon’s admonition in Ecclesiastes, Heaven and eternity will bear witness to this truth.  Keep sowing!
